Welcome to Westgrove!

Westgrove is comprised of a variety of different homes and homeowners; from those who purchased in the late 1950's and have watched their families grow, to recent arrivals with small children who are looking forward to bringing up their families in a warm, family-friendly environment.

This web page has been created to enable neighbors to better communicate and inform newcomers of the wonderful activites and opportunites for friendship that Westgrove has to offer. It's a work in progress, so please feel free to offer your suggestions and thoughts to make it better for everyone in the neighborhood.

Kiwanis Mt. Vernon Monthly Food Collection

Westgrove resident Dr. Don Reynolds is a long time member of the Kiwanis of Mt. Vernon. This organization runs many community service projects during the year -- and one of those projects which Dr. Reynolds supports and participates in is the collection of food on the third Saturday of every month at the Safeway Shopping Center in Hollin Hall on Ft. Hunt Road.

This food collection goes to the United Community Ministries http://www.ucmagency.org Food Pantry on Rt. 1 near the Wal-Mart. The Kiwanis Mt. Vernon monthly food collection is the mainstay of that Food Pantry which serves those in need in our own community.

News Important to the Neighborhood

VDOT 2020 Transportation Plan

VDOT has issued it 2020 Transportation Plan and it includes the widening of U.S. 1 through Fort Belvoir to 235 (N). See the attached Internet Website for the map and projects where the cost of this project is mentioned. The interesting aspect, to me at least, is that the widening of U.S. 1 to 235 (N) is not something new (the project is not bolded). Click on the link above to download the PDF file.
